Yahoo! and Microsoft have created joint editorial policies – aligning their separate policies into one. The below are new restrictions or changes compared to the current Yahoo! policies. Advertisers must be compliant with these to advertise in the joint marketplace. Advertisers in Ireland will need to be compliant with UK policies in addition to some local requirements too.

Fireworks & Explosives
(online sale) |
Advertising that facilitates the online sale of fireworks, explosives, hazardous material or pyrotechnic devices is disallowed.

| Privacy Policy |
Advertisers collecting PII (personally identifiable information) must provide a privacy policy displayed prominently on their site.

| Gambling |
Does not accept bets from U.S. residents.
Must comply with local license requirements.

| Trademark |
Policy is aligned but there are differences in how complaints are dealt with. “You are responsible for obtaining permission to use any trademarks in your ads. Microsoft will not serve as mediator between trademark owners and advertisers who are interested in using trademarks in their ad campaigns.”

| Adult |
Advertisers must apply to the Adult Advertising Program. If you have not been accepted into that program, advertising for adult content is disallowed.

| Site Ownership |
There will be no website ownership guideline in the joint marketplace. |
| Invasive Cosmetic Surgery |
Advertisers must clearly show on site that they are compliant with local legislative requirements. |
| Finance |
Advertisers must clearly show on site that they are compliant with local legislative requirements.
|
| Gambling |
Free gaming is not considered gambling even if you can win prizes. |
| Prescription Drugs |
Advertisers have to be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and we have to be able to locate their license number at the following URL:

Advertisers will be blocked until we can validate their regulatory status.

The Irish market will follow the same policies as UK, with a few local exceptions:
